The Olympics Ends.

a post tt shall not be about my mundane activities.. haha.

so, the olympics have drawn to a close, in a multitude of fireworks and spectacular stunts and performances..

the event tt has kept me occupied for long periods of time, especially thru the studying for O&G is over! fortunately, there is the US Open to fill in this gap, as well as my new game, Top SPin 3! :) anyways, the past fortnight have been quite fantastic, filled with many thrilling moments. i love the adrenaline rush you get watching sports :)

for me, the olympics are really a celebration of humanity. it is truly inspirational to see how men are able to smash records, and push our atheletic achievements to the limit. the sheer toughness of these atheletes are mind boggling and very impressive.

it was truly inspirational to see the one and only phelps achieve his goal of 8 golds. i dun think we are gonna see an achievement like this in our lifetime again, and i am glad to have been able to witness this little bit of history. the man is truly one of a kind, humble yet confident. amazing accomplishment.


and of course, when it comes to breaking world records, who can forget bolt? the man who broke the record so far ahead of the competition he had time to do a little victory dance. this man is so flamboyant, and he is quite a joy to watch in some sense :) how he has been able to dominate his field so easily remains quite a mystery to me, but for someone the same age as me to be doing such great things while i am stuck here writing about it, i must say i feel like quite a loser. haha. but after feeling like a loser for a while, u begin to respect the guy, and feel inspired.

the last sport that i enjoyed watching the most, was gymnastics. it is such a fascinating sport. it is so easy to fall off the high bar, or the bang into the pommel, land on your knees while vaulting, etc! for me, this sport is all about mental strength. you could see in the high bar finals how many people got so scared to perform their routine, they increased their safety and thus decreased their difficulty. some fell anyway. but the man below didn't compromise.. with all the pressure on him, he performed. though i think he is not the most skilled, he ended up with one of the hardest routines because many others reduced their difficulty level, and he won! kudos to zou kai for having the guts to come out in the finals and do what it takes to win it.. :)

but really, i find gymnastics so nail biting to watch. to come back after falling off an apparatus and continue in front of so many people just requires sheer determination and guts..

The last 2 photos show the 2 pretty gymasts, shawn johnson and nastia liukin. i really enjoyed the great show they put up, and esp liukin who was so gracious after she got 2nd place with the exact same score in the uneven bars final. i think if i were in such a position, i wouldn't have displayed such good sportsmanship. haha.


lastly of course, i am proud to be chinese. these games have been hosted to almost perfection. the grandiosity and the precision that went around, it just gave beijing such a good account of itself. i remember in 2001 when beijing won the bid, i wasn't quite v happy. i was not sure if china would be able to pull it off. but now, i have seen that they have, and tt the games have also helped china to open, tt tiny little bit, and its certainly all for the better :)
